Araksi Çetinyan

Araksi Çetinyan (Armenian Արաքսի Չեթինյան ) was the winner of the first beauty contest, which was held in the newly founded Republic of Turkey. She was of Armenian descent.

The historical performance was on May 3, 1925 or 1926 ( sources vary) in the Melek cinema hall (today Emek Cinema Hall ) in the district of Pera (today Beyoğlu ) of Constantinople Opel of Ipek held film. However, the competition was not taken all too seriously and then - officially because of favoritism and a lack of organization - annulled. However, it is assumed that the screening due to an Armenian winner and a lack of Turkish participants was canceled.

1929 took part in the first Araksi Çetinyan Miss Turkey contest and made it to the 3rd place directly after Feriha Tevfik and Semine Nihat.
