Aranos is a city in the Hardap region, Namibia and is considered a border station to the nearby Kalahari Desert. The town has about 3,700 inhabitants and a geared to tourism economic structure. There is an airfield for flight tours in the Kalahari.

Aranos is located on the right bank of the usually dry Nossob Rivier, some 130 kilometers east of Mariental in the same constituency Aranos. There is one street east to Botswana and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park. Aranos is surrounded by the red sand of the desert, scattered trees and a bush savannah.

Aranos was of 15 January 1958 to 31 August 2010 a village and was beginning on 1 September 2010 the city status.

On December 12, 1908, a post office was opened in Aranos.

Name

Originally called Aranos " Arahoab ". To counter confusion with the village Aroab was the place in Aranos, a synthetic name from "Ar" (from Arahoab ) and "Nos " from the Nossob River, renamed.
