Arapata

Arapata is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Arapata is the central place of the Canton Arapata district ( bolivian: municipality ) in the Province of Nor Yungas Coripata. The village lies at an altitude of 1700 m on a plateau at a left tributary of the Río Boopi which flows north and empties into the Río Beni.

Geography

Arapata lies in the transition region between the Altiplano and Cordillera Real to the west and the foothills of the Amazon lowlands to the east.

The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see climate chart Coroico ) and has a distinct dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. The monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 20 ° C and 25 ° C, during the day it is summery warm and cool at night.

Traffic network

Arapata lies at a distance of 106 kilometers of road northeast of La Paz, the capital of the department.

From La Paz the paved highway Route 3 leads in a northeasterly direction 52 miles to Cotapata and from there as a gravel road about 35 kilometers to Coroico.
