Archibald Bulloch

Archibald Bulloch (* 1730, † February 22, 1777 in Savannah, Georgia) was American lawyer, politician and the second Governor of Georgia.

Life

Bulloch studied law, lived and worked as a lawyer in private practice and government man in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1757 he served with the rank of lieutenant in a regiment of South Carolina. In 1762 he moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1775 a delegate of the Continental Congress and de facto Governor of Georgia in the early days of the American Revolution. 1776, he was the successor of George Walton Governor of Georgia. After the end of his tenure Button Gwinnett was governor.

His son William Bellinger Bulloch was later a representative of Georgia in the U.S. Senate and his great-great- grandson was the future U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. The Bulloch County, Georgia was named after him.
