Archibald Douglas, 3rd Earl of Douglas

Archibald Douglas, 3rd Earl of Douglas, called the Grim ( the Grim ) ( * ca 1325; † ca December 24, 1400 in Threave ) was a Scottish nobleman.

Archibald was the son of General and commander James Douglas. He followed James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Douglas, Earl of Douglas as in 1388th

Archibald fought in the battle of Maupertuis on September 19, 1356. He was Lord Warden of the Marches since 1368 and was one of the main people responsible for the peace treaty with England on 16 July 1390th

The Earl married Joan, heiress of Bothwell and daughter of Thomas Murray. With her he had the following children:

  • Marjory († 1420 ) ∞ David Stewart, 1st Duke of Rothesay
  • Eeanor ∞ Sir Alexander Fraser of Philorth
