Archives nationales in Pierrefitte- sur -Seine
The Archives nationales form the National Archives of France. The plural form is explained by the locations in historic buildings in the center of Paris and beyond. A new building in Pierrefitte- sur -Seine in the department of Seine- Saint- Denis, a few kilometers north of Paris was opened on 21 January 2013.
My archives have the Department of Defense (Service historique de la défense ), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( ministère of Foreign Affairs ) and the Economic and Finance ( Centre des archives économiques et financières ). The departments also have their own archives.
The French National Archives is under the Direction des Archives de France in the Ministry of Culture ( Ministère de la Culture ). It consists of five centers; since 1 January 2007 at four of these centers, three national centers of excellence dar.
Locations
The Centre historique des Archives National (CHAN ) is located in a building complex, which consists of the Hôtel de Soubise and the Hôtel de Rohan in the Marais district in Paris. Here are the documents from the period are housed before 1958, the archives of the heads of state and private documents from all eras. Some of these documents date back to the time of the Merovingians. Since 1 January 2007, the CHAN maintains a shared service with the contemporaines Centre des archives and the under construction Archives Pierrefitte.
The Centre des archives contemporaines ( engl contemporary archive ) is located since 1969 in Fontainebleau; especially the documents from the period are housed after 1958.
The outre- mer Centre des archives d' ( engl: Archive of overseas territories) is located since 1969 in Aix -en- Provence. Here are those documents which relate to the former French overseas possessions, both in terms of the relevant ministries as well as the colonial administration itself, since 1 January 2007, this archive the status of a national center of excellence.
The Archives nationales du monde du travail ( Archive dtsch the world of work ) is in Roubaix since 1993. It includes documents relating to business, trade unions, associations and architects. Also, this archive has the status of a national center of excellence since 1 January 2007.
The Centre national du microfilm et de la Numerisation (Microform and Digital Archives ) is since 1973 in the Château d' Espeyran in Saint -Gilles -du -Gard in the department of Gard. Here you can find the original microforms of the conserved in the other national and regional archives documents. Here also the digitization of documents is carried out. A French Archive Portal as part of a European archive portal is under development.
The new building in Pierrefitte- sur -Seine
In 2004 it was decided to build a new Central Archives in Pierrefitte- sur -Seine. It takes up 60 linear kilometers from the Hôtel de Soubise and Hôtel de Rohan and 120 linear kilometers from Fontainebleau, so the narrowness is to be remedied here. The building was designed by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas. It is located in the immediate line of the northern terminus of metro line 13, Saint- Denis - Université and the University of Paris VIII
