Ardtalla

Ardtalla (Gaelic: Aird Talla) is a small settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay. It is located about 14 km northeast of Port Ellen ferry terminal and 17 km south-east of the island's capital Bowmore. A few hundred meters south is the bay Claggain Bay. The place name is composed of the Gaelic words Aird for rock and for Talla place.

Ardtalla exists today only from a listed farmstead named Ardtalla farm. In 1841, still 58 people were counted in Ardtalla who divided to ten families. Ardtalla can be reached by car. There ends the single track road which, starting from Port Ellen leads along the southern coast about Lagavulin and Ardbeg and thus represents a continuation of the A846. In Ardtalla there is a standing stone. This is 1.4 m high with a floor area of 33 × 48 cm. A second nearby stone is described as insignificant.
