Arduino Bertoldo

Arduino Bertoldo ( born December 30, 1932 in Castelnovo di Isola Vicentina, Vicenza, Italy, † April 3, 2012 in Vicenza) was Roman Catholic bishop of Foligno.

Life

Arduino Bertoldo received after studying theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University on 22 March 1958, the ordination. He was vicar in Civita Castellana and secretary to the Bishop and Director of the Collegio di Pian Paradiso, a device for integrating young people into employment.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 10, 1992 Bishop of Foligno. He received his episcopal consecration of the Bishop of Civita Castellana, Divo Zadi, on 21 November 1992 in Cathedral of Civita Castellana; Co-consecrators were Decio Lucio Grandoni, Bishop of Orvieto - Todi, and Giovanni Benedetti, Bishop Emeritus of Foligno. The solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on 20 December 1992. In the Conference of Bishops of Umbria ( CEU ), he was responsible for the economic support of the Church, the Liturgy and the laity.

On 20 June 1993, after the earthquake on January 3, 1998, Pope John Paul II visited the diocese at the invitation of Bishop Bertoldo.

Bertoldo was committed to the people after the earthquake of 26 September 1997 that affected large parts of Umbria, Foligno heavily damaged. While the distance of 30 kilometers Assisi was restored at great expense, the consequences of the earthquake were visible in Foligno as well as the area long years; this resulted in a lot of restrictions for the local population. The episcopate of Bertoldo was influenced by the phase of reconstruction.

On 3 July 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. be pre- attached for reasons of age resignation to. Until the inauguration of his successor on 5 October of the same year he headed the Diocese of Foligno as Apostolic Administrator.
