The Arena Stožice is a multi-purpose hall in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

History

The hall is located in the Športni park Stožice ( German Sports Park Stožice ); which includes the stadium opened in 2010, with around 16,000 seats Stožice heard. A shopping center with 120 stores expected to be completed in late 2011. The total area of the land is 166,000 m2. The roof structure is reminiscent in shape to a scallop.

It is the home of sports basketball club KK Union Olimpija, the women's handball team of Rokometni club Crimea and the Volleyball Association ACH Volley Bled to the international games. The arena was opened on 10 August 2010 with the basketball match between Slovenia and Spain. The hosts defeated by the Spaniards with 72:79 in overtime.

The main sports basketball and handball arena offers the 12,480 spectators. At concerts and other music and show events, there are up to 14,480 seats. On 11 March 2011, for example, found the horses and music show Lipica v Ljubljani place in the arena. The arena is equipped for most indoor sports. An ice rink for hockey was not initially provided. Nevertheless, the arena hosted the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IA 2012 Men and offers 10,000 spectators.

In the Arena Stožice the games of the second round and the final round will be played in the knockout system, the European Basketball Championship in 2013.
