Armand Heine

Armand Heine ( * 1818 in Bordeaux, † November 9, 1883 in Saint -Julien- Beychevelle ) was a Jewish banker, he lived later at his castle and winery in Bordeaux Beychevelle.

Life and work

In cooperation with the family Rothschild Frères & Co. and together with his brother Michel, he founded in 1883 in Paris and in New Orleans ( Louisiana) in the U.S., the Bank Armand & Michael Heine. Armand was married, born in New Orleans, Louisiana architect and Comtesse Amélie Celeste Marie Kohn, the daughter of a wealthy Jewish architect.

Armand Heine acquired along with his wife's castle Meggenhorn, which expanded his wife.

Along with Samuel Kohn they possessed large ships in their company Southern Steamship Company (including the Creole Queen ). Together they founded many companies, such as New Orleans and Carrollton Railroad Co., The Carrollton Bank, The Louisiana State Marine Fire Insurance Co., and The Mechanics ' and Traders ' Bank, The Atlantic Insurance Company and The Union National Bank, etc.

Although details about the father of Amélie Marie Celeste Heine- Kohn - Samuel Kohn (1783-1853), born in Bohemia, - and his arrival in the United States are not known, the publication of an advertisement in the New Orleans daily paper indicated in July 1806 out that he had already immigrated before.
