Kind of theme (* November 26, 1939 in Manchester ) is a British saxophonist of modern jazz.

Topics studied medicine ( 1958-1961 in Cambridge, then to 1964 in London), specializing as an orthopedic surgeon, and then to work as a consulting physician. In his student days at Cambridge, he played the way in the jazz band at the University, which was awarded between 1959 and 1962 as the UK's leading high school band. After moving to London he came in contact with the blues scene and was a member of the bands of Alexis Korner ( Red Hot from Alex, 1964; Blues Incorporated, 1965) and Jack Bruce. He also played with Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Charlie Watts and Long John Baldry, before he clearly turned to jazz. In 1965 he represented his country at the International Jazz Orchestra Peter Stuyvesant, which occurred at the jazz festival in Zurich. In the late 1960s and early in the 1970s, he played in bands led by Michael Garrett and Graham Collier. In 1974 he began his collaboration with Stan Tracey (in very different formations, particularly quartet, octet, big band).

Topics also toured with Al Haig, Red Rodney, Sal Nistico or Ian Carr and also appeared with Nat Adderley, George Coleman and Billy Mitchell. Since 1995, he devotes himself to his musical career. Together with pianist John Critchinson since he runs his own quartet. When, after Ian Carr "extremely talented and original " wind he plays next to the tenor and soprano saxophone and the sopranino.
