Asagaya
Asagaya (Japanese阿佐 谷or阿佐ヶ谷) is a district of Suginami district of Tokyo, Japan prefecture. It is located in western Tokyo west of Shinjuku. Main connection after Asagaya is the Chūō - sobu - line, 12 minutes from Shinjuku Station.
Geography
Currently Asagaya is (阿佐 谷 南, Asagaya Minami ) divided (阿佐 谷 北, Kita - Asagaya ) and South by the Chūō - sobu line in North. The boundaries of the two areas approximately the same village Asagaya (阿佐ヶ谷 村, -mura ) of the Edo period, the after part of the city of Suginami was until it was incorporated in 1932 in the city of Tokyo. Asagaya can be reached both by train, subway and bus.
Festivals
Asagaya has two major festivals of the year: the Tanabata during the first week of July and the Asagaya Jazz Festival on the last weekend of October.
