Ásahreppur is an Icelandic community in the region Suðurland in southern Iceland.
On 1 January 2009 the municipality had 178 inhabitants.
Geography
The community consists of two separate areas, which are about 60 km apart. Due to the much larger part in the east leads to the southern part of the Sprengisandur. Here are the Þórisvatn and Hágöngulón, which extends to the western fringe of Vatnajökull.
The lake is located in the municipality Sultartangalón triangle between the northern part of Ásahreppur, Skeiða -og Gnúpverjahreppur and Rangárþing Ytra.
The western part of Ásahreppur crosses at about 8 km, the ring road between Hella and Selfoss.
In the municipality there are no towns.
