The main motorways are the Leitenbach (length 19 km, catchment area 75 km ²) and Sandbach (length 14 km, catchment area 44 km ²), of the left lead only 300 meters away from each other below Waizenkirchen in the Aschach. In Punzing the Prambach flows into the Aschach.

Water management

The average discharge of the Aschach on level goiter mill is 4.43 m³ / s, which corresponds to a runoff of 14.2 l / s · km ². The highest runoff occurs in the winter months, the outflow poorest months are June to October. The flow regime in this case has a moderately strong amplitude, the mean discharge is in the outflow richest month of March with 8.37 m³ / s over three times as high as in the outflow poorest month of September.

Environment

From Neumarkt to Waizenkirchen drought or Aschach Aschach is largely straightened and hard- regulated, as in Eferdinger pool. Only the breakdown path through the Sauwald is largely unspoilt. This part belongs to the European nature reserve (Natura 2000 site ) "Upper Danube and Aschach Valley ".

The catchment area of Aschach is intensively agriculturally used: 41% of the catchment area is arable land, 18 % forest. Livestock production per area (106 LU / km ²), and thus the fertilizer seizure represent a peak in Upper Austria dar.

Due to the strong regulation of intensive agriculture and problems of sanitation, the Aschach relatively poor water quality. Also industrial enterprises, especially in Neumarkt (including leather and glue factory ), of which several were now closed or withdrawn, significantly impacted the Aschach. In the 1960s, again dismissed the drought Aschach in the upper reaches of grade II to III, from Neumarkt to its confluence with the lazy Aschach class IV ( extremely high levels of contamination ), then class II to III. Today, the drought Aschach and the upper reaches of the Aschach grade II to III, according to the association with the rotting Aschach improves the quality and levels off after Waizenkirchen on the Grade II one.

In the region of the mouth of Leitenbach and Sandbach in the municipality of Waizenkirchen the Aschach and the lower reaches of the two feeder be renatured to reduce the damage caused by the regulation of harmful effects and improve water quality.
