Kallham

Kallham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Gries district churches in Hausruckviertel with 2519 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Peuerbach.

Geography

Kallham is located on 397 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 7.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.3 km. The total area is 26.7 km ². 10.1% of the area is forested, 78.7 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Erlach, Kallham and Kimpling.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms granted in 1971 is directly related to the coat of arms of the von Ungnad of White Wolf, who were the lords of the area. The blazon of a golden battlements in the lower half of the shield with a silver, red tongue and reinforced Wolf above. The wall is a symbol for which is located on Kallhamer municipality Erlach Castle, the Silver Wolf points to the longtime owner of the castle. The municipality colors are blue and white - blue.

  • Parish Church of the Assumption: 1713 built until 1718 by Jacob Pawanger, with a massive tower; an interesting exterior design gives the church the appearance of a cathedral. The last church renovation was completed in 2009.

Population Development

In 1991, the municipality had 2622 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 2543 inhabitants and 2011 only 2525 inhabitants.
