Grieskirchen

Gries churches is a town in Hausruckviertel in Upper Austria with 4820 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ), and the district capital of the district of Gries churches. The competent court of the judicial district Gries churches and the District Commission are located in the city.

Geography

Gries churches is on around 330 m above sea level. A. in Trattnachtal. The expansion is 4.7 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 4.8 km. The total area is 11.7 km ². 10.3% of the area is forested, 70.9 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The topography of the area is part of the indoor unit Inn and Hausruckviertler hills.

History

Griezkirichen 1075 as the property of Passau monastery of St. Nikola, belonging to the diocese of Passau, first mentioned. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed.

Gries churches located on the 1861 finished Passau train, a planned rail link Grieskirchen about Gallspach after Gaspoltshofen was not realized.

The train station of Gries church is located on the eastern outskirts, north of the industrial site, which characterize the factory Pöttinger agricultural technology as well as the slightly smaller Froeling boiler factory. The Pöttinger Founded in 1871, provides farm equipment manufactures for grassland and tillage. The export share is 80%. The company operates branches in Bernburg and Vodňany and employs 1,370 staff.

The 1659 first mentioned Pfleger- mill to lock PARZ located since 1892 in the possession of Haberfellner family. The company is now run by Leopold and Markus Haberfellner.

Culture and sights

• The country castle PARZ with significant external frescoes is one of the most stately Renaissance castles in Upper Austria and together with the associated water castle PARZ a closed ensemble. About 400 years ago the south facade of the castle was equipped with extensive frescoes, which were painted over a few years ago of Baroque painting, and were discovered only in 1987 as part of renovations. It is the largest preserved in the original cycle of external frescoes of the Renaissance north of the Alps. In 2010 what was seen in PARZ lock the National Exhibition Renaissance and Reformation.
