Ásmegin is a folk metal band from Norway.

Band History

Ásmegin was founded in 1998 by Marius Olaussen, Iving Mundilfarne and Auðrvinr Sigurdsson. A few months after the foundation were joined by Tomas Torgersbråten and Skule " Nordalv " Jarl, so that a full metal band line-up was available. Iving Mundilfarne left the band in 1999, shortly before the recording of the demo Naar Rimkalkene Heves ( dt Because the glasses are applicable). Shortly before the recording of the next album, Lars Fredrik Frøislie joined the band, but left Tommy Brandt, Lars Nedland and Ingvild Johannesen Ásmegin. On November 28, was released in 2008 with Arv the second studio album by the band on Napalm Records, five years after the release of their debut album. Erik Fossan Rasmussen took over the guttural vocals and also played the drums. Raymond Håkenrud played guitar, bass and piano. Marius Olaussen also took over guitar and bass parts and additionally played mandolin, accordion, piano and mellotron. Keyboard and Organ played like on the debut album Lars Fredrik Frøislie. Guest musicians were Nordrum Kneppen Martin on drums, Gunhild Hovden Kvangarsnes and as on the previous album Annemarie Hveding as a singer and Karolin Broosch ( in the song pomp end, i Jokumsol stolt ) on the violin. According to Marius Olaussen was the band that actually worked on the concept album Tusind Tabte Siæles Kakofoni come under pressure because Napalm Records urged the publication. So had to be used and the lack of drummer Erik Rasmussen Fossan import the drums for the Arv partly old songs.

Music

Ásmegin play folk metal with the use of instruments such as mandolin, accordion, flute, harp, piano and Hammond organ besides the typical rock instrumentation, and are also characterized by a wide vocal range.
