Assen [ asəns ] is a Danish seaport on the Little Belt. It was founded in 1231 and has a well-preserved old town center.

Geography

Assen is located on the west coast of the Danish island of Fyn ( Eng.: Funen ) the Little Belt. A possible directions can be done via the road bridge over the Little Belt at the town of Fredericia past.

Kommunalgehörigkeit

The town forms a separate parish municipality (Danish: Sogn ) Assen Sogn, now stretches but also on the territory of the northern adjacent Gamtofte Sogn. Both belonged originally to Harde Bag Herred in Odense Office, since 1970, to Assen municipality in the County of Funen, which is leavened with the municipal reform on 1 January 2007 in the "new " Assen municipality in the region Syddanmark, whose administrative headquarters Assen forms.

Port

The city has an industrial port with a shipyard and two docks, one of which is covered. From the harbor there is a ferry service to Bågø. Directly opposite the industrial port with its docks, the marina is for Yachtsmen with 600 berths, of which 100 are for guests.
