Association of Plaine Valley communes
The Communauté de communes de la Vallée de la Plaine is a department of cross- municipal association ( Communauté de communes ) of nine municipalities. Six municipalities belong to the department of Vosges, three municipalities in the département of Meurthe- et- Moselle.
The Local Government Association has 8,563 inhabitants (2006) to 99.25 km ², which is / corresponds to a population density of 86 inhabitants km ².
Headquarters of the Federation, which translates as called valleys of the Plaine, is the small town of Raon -l'Étape. All member communities are located on or near the Meurthe- inflow Plaine, which forms the border between the departments of Vosges and Meurthe -et -Moselle up to the headwaters and the mouth region. President of the Association of Local Authorities is Michel Humbert, who is mayor of the small town of Raon -l'Étape simultaneously.
The Local Government Association was established on 1 January 1997 from a long standing collaboration between the Plainetalgemeinden with the aim to bring together the material resources of the community and to coordinate economic development.
To the field of the local association includes regional planning and inter-communal economic and tourism development. The Communauté de communes de la Vallée de la Plaine has also set a goal to work closely together in the areas of housing quality, fire protection (large forest areas ) and waste disposal ( landfill operating a joint ).
