Astana Metro

The Astana Metro is currently being planned and partially under construction city train the Kazakh capital Astana. After closure of the O -bus operation in late 2009 it will in future bear the brunt of public transport. In the final state the 3 lines comprehensive light rail system is the population growth (up to about 2030, about 1 million people expected ) and, the growing economic importance of accounting.

The commissioning of the first two sections of the rail line 1 - they comprise a length of 24 km and 14 stops - is expected for 2014. This connects the Astana airport with the new government district south of the Ishim, the old center north of the Ishim and the main station.

The total route network has a length of about 60 km. Their estimated costs amount to approximately 1.5 billion euros.

The light rail Astana will be the third urban rapid transit system in Central Asia after the first subway Kazakhstan in Almaty and the metro in Tashkent.

Transport system selection

Operational implementation

The partially laid out in high altitude rail network will grow up to be an additional attraction of the city. The efficiency of the rail is designed for 10,000 passengers per hour. Vehicles and technical equipment

The vehicles, the technical equipment of the rail, the passenger information system and ticketing system are supplied by the French rail manufacturer Alstom. Alstom initially provides 12 multi-part articulated vehicles of type " Citadis ". Overall, are coming on the subway line 1 to use 49 tracks. Construction

With the construction of the track, the Kazakh company Almaty Invest Stroie Project was commissioned. The company is responsible for the construction, including roads, buildings, bus stops, bridges and viaducts.

Financing

The light rail project is financed in a PPP model of cooperation by both private as well as public shareholders. For the first phase of the metro line 1 represents the city of Astana EUR 24.3 million and the federal government 64.7 million euros ready. The second phase will be financed by funds from the federal government and the Asian Development Bank.
