Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center
Khan Shatyr (Russian Хан шатыр; literally Royal tent) is a giant transparent tent in the Kazakh capital Astana. Was opened the building on July 6, 2010. The construction costs amounted to around 260 million U.S. dollars. After the pyramid of peace and harmony, this is the second project by the British architect Norman Foster (Foster Partners ) in Astana.
History
The architectural project was, on 7 December 2006 officially introduced by Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan. In December 2008, the most difficult construction of the tent was completed. Within two weeks of the 150 meter high tripod mast was erected.
The opening ceremony took place on 6 July 2010, on the 70th anniversary of Kazakhstan's President. At the opening of many leaders of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States were invited. The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli gave a concert during the celebrations. The organization of the opening ceremony cost more than ten million U.S. dollars.
At the opening of the Khan Shatyry were invited Dmitry Medvedev, the then President of Russia, Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey, Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Armenia, Emomali Rahmon, the President Tajikistan, Roza Otunbayeva, President of Kyrgyzstan, Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Abdullah II, King of Jordan.
Description
The construction of the building was four years. The cost was officially 290 million U.S. dollars. The project was financed by a Turkish and Russian investor. The 150- meter tall structure is made of plastic sonnendurchlässigem (ETFE ) of Vector Foiltec and since the completion of the largest tent in the world. On the site, which has an area of approximately 100,000 m² and is larger than ten football fields, was built on six floors a shopping entertainment center with approximately 180 shops, cinema, food court, spa and wellness center, entertainment center ( Baikonur ) and a 6,000 m² large water park with two swimming pools and wave pool.
The retail industry is divided over the basement, ground floor and the first floor. In the basement are located on an area of 4,000 sqm supermarket and an electronics market and various service providers. On the ground and first floor, there are preferably textile suppliers such as Inditexgruppe ( Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Massimo Duti, Pull & Bear ), GAP, Mexx, etc. In sports companies such as Adidas, Reebok and Nike are represented. Debenhams and New York opened its first branches in Kazakhstan Khan Shatyr. On the first floor there is also the cinema with six screening rooms. Can also be found on the first floor are the most local Kazakh retailers. On the second floor there is a food court and several restaurants and cafes. On the same floor there is also the Baikonur with video games and bumper cars. On the third floor is located on one half of a wellness spa center, on the other half a log flume with real green plants and a cafe.
On the top floor is the Aqua Park, which has a direct connection to the spa center. The Aqua Park has a wave pool, a swimming pool, a giant slide and a cafe. The park is complemented by a heated sand beach. The aqua park is covered separately, so that the area can be heated up to 30 degrees.
As a major entertainment attraction located in the center of the center, a 38 meter high drop tower. In addition to the whitewater course in the third floor there is a station for the monorail, where you can make a tour of the whole center. It is about 400 meters long.
At parking facilities are approximately 400 parking spaces in a garage and another 1,500 parking spaces in the outdoor area. Khan Shatyr is currently on the outskirts in the new part of Astana. It plans to expand the city by Khan Shatyr addition, so that the tent is part of the future town center of Astana. Khan Shatyr is in line with the Bajterek Tower, the Presidential Palace and the Pyramid of Peace and concord.
