Aterciopelados

Aterciopelados (of Spanish aterciopelado for " velvety " ) are a Colombian rock group with Spanish-language texts. The group was founded in 1990 under the name Delia y los Aminoacidos. 1992 the name was changed to Aterciopelados.

History

Aterciopelados is gründsätzlich and significantly since 1990 from Andrea Echeverri ( singer, guitarist ) and Héctor Buitrago ( bass player, arranger ). Members

The group consists of Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago. The original bassist Andrés Giraldo was in 1995 replaced by Alejandro Duque and guitarist Charlie Márquez was replaced by Alejandro Gómez Cáceres 1997.

Music style

The music has influences from progressive rock, alternative rock, electronic music, mariachi, bolero, cumbia, vallenato and other folklore, Colombian music styles.

Achievements

TIME magazine included the Aterciopelados the top 20 rock bands of the planet, along with other famous groups like U2 and the Rolling Stones. They were also nominated for a Grammy in 1997 and 1998.
