Atlantic Ocean Road

The Atlantic Road (Norwegian ( Bokmål ) Atlanterhavsveien ) is a section of the Norwegian National Highway 64 and is located in Fylke Møre og Romsdal, between Molde and Kristiansund.

Strictly speaking, the Atlantic Road includes a 8274 -meter-long section between Vevang in the municipality of Eide and situated on an island in the municipality Kårvåg Averøy. Through its course with eight bridges over several small islands it is a tourist attraction, and locals like to go fishing there.

History

The road follows a route that was originally planned for a railway line. The first plans date back to the early 20th century; In 1935 these plans were laid permanently shelved. In the 1970s, was then started with road design.

Construction began on 1 August 1983; the road was opened on 7 July 1989, replaced a ferry that ran on a similar route. The building cost 122 million Norwegian Kroner (1989 ) for which financing was the street after the opening ten years toll.

On 27 September 2005, the Atlantic Road was declared a " Norwegian construction of the century ".

• Store- Lauvøysund Bridge: length 52 m, internal height of 3 m
• Lille- Lauvøysund Bridge: Length 115 m, 7 m clear height
