Around the year 2000, the company came because of the fierce competition from regional jets in a crisis, although one could be overcome.

By the end of September 2008, ATR 959 total orders recorded (of which 419 for the ATR 42 and 540 for the ATR 72); at that time you had 795 machines delivered (403 ATR 42s and 392 ATR 72s ). The family will comprise two types in the range between about 80 and 90 seats on the current state. An official launch, however, to be expected, according to ATR 2015 at the earliest, so as to have the opportunity to benefit from new technologies that were used in the larger patterns 787, A350 and A380, the Boeing and Airbus for the first time. It is expected that these technologies are sufficiently tested and established in 2015, to accept them and use them in the planned new turboprop family.

In 2010, 80 new machines were ordered from ATR, 2011, 157, almost twice as many. The number of deliveries in 2011 rose from 51 to 54, in the order books were at the end of the year another 224 copies for the equivalent of about 5 billion U.S. dollars. In the Spring season 2012, the 1000th ATR, an ATR 72-600, was delivered.

The opening of a simulator center at Singapore Seletar Airport on 14 December 2012, the first outside of Toulouse, contributes to the growing customer base in the Asia- Pacific account
