Germany 1954 Gerling Credit Insurance Group Speziale ( GKS )

Atradius is one of the largest credit insurance company in the world with headquarters in Amsterdam. With total revenue of more than 1.6 billion euros Atradius helps businesses around the world to protect themselves against bad debts when customers goods delivered or services rendered can not pay.

History

The company was formed in late 2001 by the merger of the German credit insurance group Gerling Credit Insurance Group Speziale ( GKS ) and the Dutch credit insurer Nederlandsche Maatschappij Credietverzekering (NCM ). For a short time, the company was renamed as Gerling NCM, until it was renamed on 1 January 2004 in Atradius.

1925, the NCM was established as the world's first credit insurance in order to improve the terms of trade of Dutch companies. This business plan was cemented in 1932 when NCM Partnership with the Dutch government came in to power in the name of companies with export credit services. This relationship still exists today.

In Germany, the roots of Atradius to the GKS go back, which was founded in 1954 as the credit insurance arm of the Gerling Group. The GKS pursued the business initially only from Germany until 1962 when it opened its first international office in Switzerland. The later international Gerling Credit Insurance Group was the first private-sector credit insurer who offered the insurance of export credits.

The Atradius shares of the Gerling Group were taken over in 2003 by a group of leading international financial institutions: Swiss Re, German bank Sal Oppenheim, Grupo Catalana Occidente, a leading Spanish financial services company, and Crédito y Caucion, the leading in Spain and worldwide fourth largest provider of credit insurance.

On January 25, 2008 another major step in the development of the company, the merger with Crédito y Caucion to consolidate the position of Atradius in the global market for credit insurance.

In 2010, the Grupo Catalana Occidente took over the shares of Swiss Re, and German bank Sal Oppenheim and has since become the main shareholder of Atradius Group. Grupo Catalana Occidente is the largest independent insurers in Spain and for the past 150 years on the market.

Its products help companies around the world to protect themselves against bad debts, if buyers can not pay for goods delivered or services rendered. The rating agency A.M. Best financial strength rating of Atradius rated " A ( Excellent) Stable outlook " (September 2013), the rating agency Moody 's downgrades Atradius "A3 with stable outlook " (December 2013) a.

The regular publications of Atradius include in addition to the country reports and the market monitor that regularly examines the economic development industry worldwide, the " Payment Practices Barometer ". In this study, the payment behavior of international companies is examined.
