History

The name " Bärenkeller " stems from the cellar of an inn, where jugglers in the Middle Ages brought their dancing bears. As a district Bärenkeller was founded in 1932. Several Nazi leaders, including Hermann Goering, were Bärenkeller after the 2nd World War briefly detained before they were brought to Luxembourg and waited there for the Nuremberg trials. After that, many houses were inhabited by high-ranking American officers to the homes in the districts of Centerville, Cramerton, Sullivan Heights and Supply Center were completed.

Characterization

The Bärenkeller is divided into a block of flats and a cottage settlement.
