The Augsburg Morell Street Station is a station on the railway Augsburg- Buchloe. It is located south of the city center of Augsburg on the border of the districts Antonsviertel and high-field and is constructed as a through station with eight tracks and one island platform.

History

The station was opened in September 1847 with the opening of the railway line Augsburg- Buchloe under the name Morell road running, the city name Augsburg was preceded only on 6 October 1940. After the founding of the Augsburg Localbahn a turnoff to Haunstetten in the local industrial area has been set up to connect the Martini & Cie, SWA and Kunstmühle Kühn companies at Morell Street Station 1899.

Only some transports in the Theresienstadt concentration camp went from the main railway station - During the Second World War was a major part of the deportations from the Augsburg region in the Occupied Eastern Territories, including the Auschwitz concentration camp, conducted by Morell Street Station.

Infrastructure

At the station there are a total of eight solid tracks. There is a central platform, which is accessible via the underpass of the Von-der- Tann -Straße Between the third and fourth track from the east. The other tracks at the railway station serving the Augsburg Localbahn and the connection between the main station and the depot, where today is located within walking distance of the Augsburg Railway Park.

Operation

The train station is not served by long-distance transport. Like the other small stations in the city serves Augsburg Morell road especially the commuters in the city center. This is where all regional trains which travel from Augsburg Central Station towards Buchloe or from there to Augsburg (partly the trains continue to Allgäu ). Hourly hold here also trains operating on the Lechfeld train to Landsberg am Lech. In the area of ​​Augsburg Verkehrsverbundes these trains run as R7 ( after Schwab Munich) and as R8 ( by Klosterlechfeld ). In the rush hour is thus a 15 -minute intervals. The Morell Road railway station is part of the planned S -Bahn Augsburg.
