The Franciscan Monastery, 1624 Hospice, 1668 Convention, belonged first to the Strasbourg province of the order, from the 19th century to the Bavarian province of the order and housed up to 30 Franciscan brothers. The Sanctuary was gradually expanded in the 17th century and enlarged and redecorated substantially in the first half of the 18th century. Around the pilgrimage church and monastery settled in the course of time, mostly traders, shopkeepers and restaurateurs in order to serve the needs of the pilgrims. From this four annual markets emerged during the summer, who gained national importance. The small hamlet belonged to the basic rule of the wealthy in Untermeitingen Augsburg patrician family of Imhof, later to Rural Municipality Untermeitingen.
