Geography
Fischach lies in the tertiary hills of the Western Woods Nature Park south of Augsburg. The place was built on the spot where the Neufnach Valley meets the Schmutter Valley, at the confluence of the two waters.

History
Fischach was to the 14th century seat of an old local noble family, the lords of Fischach. These were the episcopal ministry officials Augsburg Schirmvögte, the Lords of Schwabegg. In the course of the secularization of the place came in 1803 to the Electorate of Bavaria. From 1862 to 1929 Fischach belonged to the district office Zusmarshausen and from 1929 to the district office of Augsburg, which was designated as the district of Augsburg from 1939. The market survey was conducted in 1952.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1972 Aretsried, Willmatshofen and Wollmetshofen were incorporated. On 1 July 1975 she gave parts of the disbanded community Kreuzanger added. Siegert Mayrhofen followed on 1 January 1976. Finally, a part of the dissolved municipality Reitenbuch was incorporated on May 1, 1978.

Culture and sights
In Fischach there is a Jewish cemetery, which was established in 1774 by the then Jewish community. Today, it is cultivated and maintained by the municipality and can be visited after consultation. There is also a former synagogue and a former Jewish community center with school. 1999, a Jewish monument was erected in Fischach which commemorates the four hundred year history of Christian-Jewish coexistence in the community to the persecution of Jews in the Nazi era.
In the district of Heimberg 's oldest remaining Mozart's House, from the proven to originate the direct ancestors of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is. 1486 the inconspicuous farmhouse has been certified as a residence of a Ändris (Andreas ) Mozart.

Traffic
The Fischach ( Schwab ) station is located on the Staudenbahn of Gessertshausen after market forest. The route is currently operating only from individual special trains.
