History

In 1063 Bonstetten was first mentioned. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Benedictine monastery of St. Ulrich and Afra and the Cistercian monastery Oberschönenfeld gained influence as landlords until the secularization in 1803. This is also reflected in today's local coat of arms with the two Golden Shamrock Cross (St. Ulrich and Afra ) and the red and white oblique beams ( Oberschönenfeld ) resist. 1862 to 1929 belonged to the district office Bonstetten Zusmarshausen and from 1929 to the district office of Augsburg, which was then called from 1939 as the district of Augsburg. In recent history, especially the transition from the once purely farming settlement reflects on today's preferred residential community with recreational character.
