August, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck

Augustus of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck ( * February 13, 1652, † September 26, 1689 in Bonn), since 1675 was the second Duke of Oldenburgische sideline Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck.

Life

August was the first son of August Philipp (1612-1675) and Marie Sibylle Countess Duke of Nassau -Saarbrücken ( 1628-1699 ). It was followed by four sons and four daughters who survived to adulthood. August Philip was the fifth son of Duke Alexander of Sonderburg, and grandson of the founder of the Oldenburg branch line Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg, Johann the Younger. August 1676 married Hedwig Louise, Countess of Lippe - Alverdissen ( 1650-1731 ), daughter of Philip I of Lippe- Alverdissen, founder of the House of Schaumburg -Lippe. They had a son, Friedrich Wilhelm (1682-1719), married to Maria di Sanfre and a daughter Henriette Dorothea of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck ( 1678-1750 ).
