August von Voit

August von Voit ( born February 17, 1801 in Wassertruedingen, † December 12, 1870 in Munich; Complete name: Richard Jakob August von Voit ) was a German architect. He was the son of the architect Johann Michael Voit.

Life

Voit comes from Wassertruedingen, in present-day district of Ansbach, Middle Franconia. He studied from 1822 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Friedrich von Gärtner architecture and trained in Italy and France continue. In 1840 he was the gardener successor to the Chair, a position he held until 1847. After the death gardener Oberbaurat Voit 1847 joined as head of the Supreme Building Authority in the State Building Authority. August von Voit turned in his buildings with a preference for the Romanesque style, which he mimicked the North Germanic and Italian patterns.

Synagogues

1832/1833 was the Jewish community in Ruelzheim the new Rülzheimer synagogue built by August von Voit. Voit has designed the plans of Inge Heimer synagogue and the synagogue in Herxheim, Kallstadt, Kirchheimbolanden and Speyer.
