Augustus Frank

Augustus Frank ( born July 17, 1826 in Warsaw, Wyoming County, New York, † April 29, 1895 in New York City ) was an American politician. Between 1859 and 1865 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Augustus Frank was the nephew of Congressman William Patterson (1789-1838) and George Washington Patterson ( 1799-1879 ). He attended the common schools and worked in the trade. Later, he was a Director and Vice President of the Buffalo and New York City Railroad. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In June 1856 he was a delegate participated in the first Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, was nominated on the John C. Frémont as a presidential candidate.

In the congressional elections of 1858, Frank was in the 30th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Judson W. Sherman on 4 March 1859. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1865 three legislative periods. These were shaped by the events of the civil war since 1861. Since March 4, 1863 Frank represented as a successor of Alfred Ely 29th district of his state.

In 1864 he gave up another Congress candidate. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he was a director of the Wyoming County National Bank in the year 1865. In the years 1967 and 1868 he was a delegate to a constitutional convention of his state. Between 1870 and 1882 he acted as one of the leaders of the state mental hospital in Buffalo. In 1871, Frank Augustus founded the Bank of Warsaw, whose president he remained until his death. He was also director of the Rochester Trust & Safe Deposit Co and State Representative for the maintenance of public parks. He also served on the board of the railway company Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railroad. In 1894 he took again as a delegate attend a New York Constitutional Convention. He died on April 29, 1895 in New York City and was buried in Warsaw.
