Upper Lithuania ( Aukschtaitien, Lithuanian: Aukštaitija ) is a historic part of the country of Lithuania in the center and east of the country. It includes the present-day counties of Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Utena.

Lithuania is the upper compared with low Lithuania ( Žemaitėjė ) densely populated part of the country. The name goes back to the Lithuanian tribe of Aukschtaiten. In the southwest of Upper Lithuania borders on Suvalkija and Dzūkija, two other historic landscapes of Lithuania.
