Aulaqi

Aulaqi (Arabic عولقي, DMG ʿ Aulaqi ) - the plural is Awaliq ( عوالق, ʿ Awāliq ) - is the name of an Arab Stammeskonfödeation in Yemen.

The territory of Awaliq is a mountain range ( the al - ʿ Awd Kaur ) divided, so that a distinction is made between an upper and a lower Aulaqi area. The latter is about 80,000 km2 and is bordered to the south by the Indian Ocean; here once existed the Lower Aulaqi Sultanate with capital Ahwar. To the north, in about 100,000 km2 upper Aulaqi area, the Upper Aulaqi Sultanate was to the west with the center Nisab and on the east the Upper Aulaqi - Scheichtum, whose capital was formed Yeschbum. Both the two landlocked countries and their southern Schwestersultanat belonged until its dissolution in 1967, only the Federation of Arab Emirates of the South and then to the South Arabian Federation.

Known Awaliq include:

  • Anwar al - Aulaqi
  • Muhammad Amin Haidar al - Aulaqi
