Aurelio Galfetti

Aurelio Galfetti ( born April 2, 1936 in Biasca, Ticino Canton ) is a Swiss architect. He is next to Mario Botta, Luigi Snozzi and Livio Vacchini one of the main representatives of Ticino architecture of the 20th century.

Life

After working in the architectural firm Tita Carloni in Lugano, Galfetti studied in the years 1956-1960 at the ETH Zurich with Paul Waltenspühl. In 1960 he opened his own office in Lugano. In the years 1962-1970 there was a shared office with the architects Flora Ruchat and Ivo Trümpy. Between 1970 and 1978 Galfetti collaborated on various projects with Livio Vacchini, Luigi Snozzi, Rino Tami and Mario Botta. Since 1976 he is member of the Association of Swiss Architects (BSA) and Association of German Architects (BDA ), whose honorary member since 1983. In 1984 he accepted a visiting professorship at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and in 1987 at the Unité Pedagogique 8 in Paris. In 1996 Galfetti founds together with his colleague Mario Botta, the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, where he was professor from 1996 to 2001 and director.

Family

Aurelio Galfettis sister is married to the painter Xavier Valls katalnischen actress Angela Luis Galfetti. His nephew Manuel Valls was appointed on 31 March 2014 Prime Minister of France.
