Authi

Leyland Authi was a Spanish automobile manufacturer. The company was founded as a joint venture between the British Motor Corporation ( BMC) and Spanish Nueva Montaña Quijano ( NMQ ).

BMC then sought a way to sell cars in Spain, which at that time had a very restrictive policy towards car imports.

On November 12, 1966, the Company Authi (car Moviles de Turismo Hispano Ingleses ) was officially registered under the presidency of Eduardo Ruiz de Huidrobo y Alzurena in the commercial register, based in Arazuri, Navarra. The share capital and premises was owned by the Nueva Montaña Quijano SA founded in 1899 ( NMQ ) from Santander in Spain, a production company in the steel and metal processing. Shareholders were the Banco de Santander and the family Quijano.

The goal of Leyland Authi was mainly, Austin and Morris to manufacture vehicles and build sales for Spain.

January 1967 ran the first built in Spain vehicles (MG 1100 from Morris) from the tape. In October 1968, the Mini C followed 1275th He was equipped with leather seats, walnut dashboard and with more extras than the British equivalent.

In 1969, the production was opened in Pamplona. In April 1969, the Mini 1000 came in two versions on the market. It was available in a standard and a special version. This mini 1000 series achieved the highest sales in the company's history of Authi. They were assembled exclusively in the Mini plant in Pamplona. The bodies were supplied from England. Nueva Montaña Quijano ( NMQ ) from Los Corrales de Buelna ( Cantabria ), manufactures engines, transmissions and axles. More factories from the group Crilastic, Ketalauto and Tecniauto from Barcelona, produced among other suspension parts, shock absorbers, electrics, glazing, trim, SU carburettors, fuel pumps and spare parts.

The only two independent models were marketed as Austin.
