Auxey-Duresses

Auxey -Duresses is a commune of 333 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) and an area of ​​11.09 km ². It is located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, about eight kilometers from Beaune west of Meursault at an altitude 245-482 m above sea level and is part of the Côte-d'Or department. The municipality with the same appellation in the neighborhood of Meursault and Monthelie has 135 hectares of land. About 65 % of the wine produced is red wine, almost exclusively from Pinot Noir, but with additions of Pinot gris and Pinot Liébault. A small part of the red wine is also sold under the appellation Auxey -Duresses -Côte de Beaune. The other 35 % of them white, pressed from Chardonnay with the addition of Pinot blanc. On 32 hectares of vineyards nine Premiers Crus are generated, one of which may be mentioned as the most important Bréterins, Climat de Val, DURESSES, Écusseaux and Reugne.

History
