Axenstar

Axenstar is a Swedish power metal band from Västerås.

History

Axenstar was founded in 1998 by Peter Johansson and Magnus Ek as a Metal - cover band under the name Powerage. After some line-up changes in 2001, the group of Magnus Eriksson, Thomas Eriksson, Peter Johansson, Magnus Ek and Pontus Jansson named then into Axenstar.

Their first album Perpetual Twilight published Axenstar the Spanish label Arise Records in October 2002. This album received good reviews and Axenstar world got the chance to play on the Motala Metal Festival.

In May 2003 Axenstar recorded their second album, Far From Heaven.

In January 2004, the band toured as the opening act of Falconer for the first time across Europe. Magnus Ek, it was not possible to participate in the tour; as a substitute played Joakin Jonsson ( Skyfire ) the bass, which turned out to be very good.

The Inquisition - the third album - was released in 2005. During this time there were some problems within the band. In summer 2005, guitarist Peter Johansson and Thomas Eriksson left the band for personal reasons. By the third album of the contract with Arise Records expired and Axenstar, now with Joakim Jonsson as the lead guitarist, were looking for a new business. In the fall of 2005, she signed a contract with the German label Massacre Records.

In spring 2006, the fourth album The Final Requiem as usual in the Studio Underground was recorded.

After the release of this album, there were further changes within the band. The bassist Magnus Ek and drummer Pontus Jansson left the band due to time constraints. Just a few months later found the two remaining band members in a new drummer Thomas Ohlsson. Ohlsson beat Henrik Sedell, with whom he had previously played together, as new bassist before. The atmosphere in the band is both at the personal as well as professional level very well.
