Babice (Olomouc District)

Babice ( German Babitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers north-west of Šternberk and belongs to Okres Olomouc.

Geography

Babice is located at the junction of the Lower Hanna die on Babický creek. To the northeast, the hill rises Kamínka (329 m).

Neighboring towns are Krakořice in the north, Hlásnice in the northeast, Šternberk in the southeast, Lusatia in the south, Hnojice in the southwest, and Zerotin Strukov in the west and Dolni Mladějovice and Mladějovice in the northwest.

History

Babice first written in 1228 and belonged to the rule Šternberk. Since 1339 the existence of a parish church is detectable. After the death of Peter of Krawarn his widow Anna Babice 1405 presented together with several neighboring villages to the monastery of the Augustinian Canons in Šternberk. The Augustinians took over in 1474 and the patronage of the parish church. 1480 acquired the pen the Good Zerotin and made ​​this the county seat, which also Babice was associated until 1784.

During the Thirty Years' War in 1624, the parish became extinct in Babice. During this time, the Germanization of the village began. 1737 was the relocation of the monastery brewery after Babice, which had developed into a center of Sternberger country. In the village there were three inns. As part of the Josephine reforms the pen in 1784 was dissolved and Babice came under the administration of the religious fund. According to the southwest of the village located Babitzer yard were parzellisiert and sold to German settlers, was created in 1786 in its place the settlement Herma network ( Heřmanec ). This was later renamed Egersdorf ( Egrov ). The church was renovated in the 18th century as a branch church of Sternberger parish church.

After the abolition of Partrimonialherrschaften Babitz in 1850 for the independent municipality in the district Sternberg, which included the district Egersdorf and Einödwirtschaft the inn crab louse.

1958 was the Dean Pospisil in the chapel of a small Madonna relic from the 14th century, which probably dates back to the Augustinian monastery. It is now housed in the castle Šternberk.

The former district Egrov is fused with Babice into one unit.
