Babilonie about Obermehnen
The Babilonie is a lying down to 255.6 m height La Tène temporal ramparts on the northern edge of the round end of the Wiehengebirge above the Lübbecker district Obermehnen in the Minden -Lübbecke, North Rhine -Westphalia ( Germany ). Germanic means Baben in lon up in the forest.
The wedge-shaped, hillside sloping to the north, double rampart has been archaeologically examined in particular in the first half of the last century by Friedrich Langewiesche, who conceives as Fliehburg.
Ceramic and even metalworking findings point to the La Tène period, the pre-Roman Iron Age, therefore probably also points to an extensive trading network. The attachment has an area of about 12 ha The first mapping of the exceptionally well-suited for a large castle hilltop with a far up springing source took place after 1880.
Also from the Saxon- Franconian period pottery finds have been recovered. After Paul Höfer a legend refers to Wittekind.
