Bachalpsee

Nature reserve

The Bachalpsee is a picturesque small mountain lake on the ridge above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. It is located at 2,265 m above sea level. M. and consists of two parts, separated by a small natural dam, the lower part is 6 feet below. From its shore there is a magnificent panorama to the Bernese Alps covered with eternal ice, including the Wetterhorn ( 3'692 m), Schreckhorn ( 4'078 m ) and the Finstaarhorn ( 4'274 m). The area around the lake is a moorland landscape of national importance, through which the mill creek winds. The diverse flora is explained on a nature trail.

The hike from First to Bachalpsee is one of the most popular hikes in the region and is part of the itinerary First -toed Horn Schynige plate.

From Bachalpsee Milibach flows through the Bachläger waterfall in the Black Lütschinen.
