Bács-Kiskun County
Bács -Kiskun [ba ː ʧ kiʃkun ] is a county (administrative district ) in southern Hungary. It shares borders with Serbia and to the counties of Baranya, Tolna, Fejér, plague, Jasz -Nagykun -Szolnok and Csongrád. It has an area of 8445 km ² and (2001) 541 430 inhabitants. The county seat is Kecskemét, other major cities are Kiskunfélegyháza, Kiskunhalas, Kalocsa and Baja.

Geography
The area has a share in the Great Hungarian Plain. In the west the county is bordered by the Danube and the Tisza reaches the east.

Major cities and towns
History and Culture
The name Kiskun ( " Kiskunság " ) dates back to the Turkic Cumans, who were settled in 1240 by the Mongols storms here. The southern part of the county has a share in the landscape Backa, located mostly in Vojvodina.
The county was formed (former Bács- Bodrog ) and the southern part of the large Pest- Pilis - Solt -Kiskun only in the course of the great Komitatsreform 1950 from the Hungarian part of Backa.
