Geographical location

The municipality is situated in 370-950 meters altitude in Wolftal 15 km southwest of Freudenstadt on the southern slope of the Kniebis.

The village of Bad Rippoldsau- Schapbach consists of the two former municipalities of Bad Rippoldsau Schapbach and with a total of 35 villages, tine, farms and houses.

History

Rippoldsau was first mentioned in documents in 1179. The first mention of Schapbach was 1220. Both communities were the property of the von Fürstenberg, it had to resign in 1803 as part of the media coverage due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss conclusion to the Grand Duchy of Baden.   • The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows in Bad Rippoldsaue was built in 1829 by the Weinbrenner student Christoph Arnold.
