Balthasar of Werle

Balthasar, Prince of Wenden [- Güstrow ] (* 1375, † April 5, 1421 ) was 1393 / 94-1421 to Mr. Werle - Güstrow and from 1418 Prince of Wenden.

He was the eldest son of Lorenz and Mechthild ( † before 17 December 1402).

After the death of his father Lorenz in 1393/94 he reigned alone at first, but as early as the December 11, 1395 along with his brother John VII and from May 1, 1401 with his brother William of Werle. Since May 4, 1418 he calls himself, as did his brother, Prince of Wenden, on the basis of chronicles by Bishop Otto of Havel Mountain, in which she had a testimony gained their royal lineage. He was buried in the Cathedral Guestrower.

He was with first with Euphemia, daughter of Magnus I of Mecklenburg (∞ on October 18, 1397, † October 16, 1417 ) and then with Heilwig, daughter of Count Gerhard VI. married of Holstein- Rendsburg ( † before 1436 ). Heilwig later married Dietrich von Oldenburg.

Previously, he was with Agnes, daughter of Bogislaw VI. Duke of Pomerania - Wolgast, engaged. The wedding was likely but not achieved.

Children are not aware of it.
