Bank Windhoek

The Bank Windhoek is a large bank of Windhoek, with business areas in Namibia. The Bank has in addition to the head office in Windhoek Central still over 50 branches throughout Namibia. The Bank provides financial services to private and corporate customers. It is one of the only fully Namibian Bank of Capricorn Investment Holding.

IPO

On June 20, Bank Windhoek has placed the largest Quotation in the history of the Namibian Stock Exchange 44,331,048 shares. First of these were issued to the general public at an issue price of 875 N $ - cents. The shares were oversubscribed 3.5 times.

Social

The Bank Windhoek is the main sponsor of the month to be held in Windhoek since 2003 Bank Windhoek Arts Festival has been held since 2008 and the Bank Windhoek Triennale. In addition, the Bank Windhoek leads since 2003 training projects for prison inmates through in Windhoek.

Foreign takeover

From late 2009 to the acquisition of Capricorn Investment Holding, and thus the Bank Windhoek was sought by the South African Absa. The Bank of Namibia has announced the acquisition rejected, however, since no Namibian bank may be foreign-owned.
