Barbara of Brandenburg-Ansbach-Kulmbach

Barbara of Brandenburg- Ansbach (* September 24, 1495 in Ansbach, † September 23, 1552 in Karlsbad) was a Princess of Brandenburg -Ansbach and by marriage Countess of Leuchtenberg.

Life

Barbara was a daughter of Margrave Friedrich the Elder of Brandenburg-Ansbach and Bayreuth (1460-1536) from his marriage to Sophia of Poland (1464-1512), daughter of King Casimir IV of Poland.

She married on 29 September 1510 Plassenburg Landgrave George III. of Leuchtenberg ( 1502-1555 ). In the marriage contract her a dowry of 10,000 florins and a dowry of 3,000 florins was granted.

In 1549 she asked in writing the numerous relatives pardon, because the marriage of her son almost precipitously with the deep-pocketed Mechthilde de La Marck, without had been closed off and approval of kinship. The marriage had been initiated by Barbara's brother Duke Albrecht of Prussia and later succeeded by the rehabilitation of the finances of the country county.

Barbara is buried in the parish church of the Assumption in Pfreimd. Your consisting of red marble grave plate with coat of arms and inscription in front of the high altar.
