Barney McGill

Bernard " Barney " McGill ( born April 30, 1890 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, † January 11, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American cinematographer.

Life

McGill worked as a photographer and camera assistant, before he rose to director of photography after the end of the First World War. He usually designed second-rate movies. An exception was Archie Mayo's Svengali, was nominated for the McGill 1931 for an Oscar for Best Cinematography.

McGill died in 1942 due to a serious illness. Throughout his career, he participated in about ninety movies.
