The Barniner lake lies in the Sternberg Lake District, in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in West Mecklenburg. The lake is located just northeast of Crivitz and is fully owned by the municipality Barnin. It has a length of about three kilometers and an average depth of 2.1 meters. The southern part of the lake is very narrow and up to 7.5 meters deep, while the northern part is very flat and wide. The shore is steep and wooded in the south, while the northern part is flat and merges smoothly into the surrounding meadows and pastures. In Barnin is located beside a lake Wasserwanderrastplatz which serves as a base for water walks on the Warnow. Besides the Warnow has the lake from the south nor the Amtsgraben than inflow. This flows from the Crivitzer See coming into the lake. The Warnow as runoff is tucked away in the northwest of the lake.
