Baron Southampton

Baron Southampton, of Southampton, in the county of Hampshire, is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of Great Britain, which is run by the family FitzRoy.

Award

The title was created in 1780 for the soldier and politician Charles FitzRoy. This had fought first in the Seven Years' War with the British Army. Since 1759, he was then a member of the House of Commons, Deputy Chamberlain of Queen Charlotte.

More titles

The first Baron was a grandson in the male line of the Duke of Grafton. Therefore, the holder of the title is in the succession for this item and those who are subordinate to him.

The second son of the third Baron, Edward FitzRoy, was Speaker of the House of Commons. His descendants use the title Viscount Daventry.
